]]>But smart watches are not expected to overtake the luxury watch market any time soon. Swatch CEO Nick Hayek acknowledges that “technology alone doesn’t sell, not in watches.” Luxury watches are widely respected and easily recognized by people who appreciate details and luxury. Luxury watches also hold their value over time, because they are composed of valuable substances like gold, precious metals and jewels. Another factor in a luxury watch’s long-term investment value is its prestigious brand name. Luxury watches like those by Rolex, Tag Heuer and Omega – new and antique – are always in demand. ]]>When people think of diamonds, they usually think about diamonds as part of jewellery. But what about diamonds on a phone? Or diamonds on a gaming chip? Or even diamonds on a T-shirt?
It’s not as ridiculous as it sounds.
The Superlative Luxury Company has recently released the diamond-studded T-shirt. The shirt, made of black organic cotton, has eight white diamonds and eight black diamonds with each diamond being at least one carat in weight.
And the price? $400,000.
And before you ask, no, they don’t do refunds.
Meanwhile, a Swedish diamond jewellery designer auctioned off a set of gaming chips inHong Kong. The chips are made of 18 carat gold and encrusted with 5,160 diamonds and other precious stones. And if that wasn’t enough, each of the chips includes a small piece of a Swedish meteorite.
As for diamonds on phones, both Blackberry and Apple have had diamonds added to their products.
Blackberry released a limited-edition black diamond-encrusted phone last year at a jewellery show inSwitzerland. The diamonds weigh 6 carats and the phone retails for US$15,000.
That may seem like a lot of money, but that figure is dwarfed by the one attached to a diamond encrusted iPhone 4S created by British designer Stuart Hughes.
Hughes’ ‘iPhone Elite Gold’ includes 500 diamonds that weigh over 100 carats and has a case made from platinum and 24 carat gold. The diamond phone is also decorated with opals, semi-precious stones and even dinosaur bones.
If that sounds like something you might like to own, you’ll need some very deep pockets – it has a retail value of $9.4 million. But despite this heavy price-tag, at least one person had already bought one.
So whether it’s diamond jewellery, diamond rings or any other kind of diamond encrusted object, bring it into EzyCash Gold Buyers, Panmure, Auckland for a top cash price.
